Default the DOOM buggy progress

Welll, a while ago i made a thread about my interest in building a dune buggy. well, we found a set of plans that were free and distributed online called "bullfrog" buggy. well, after a while of looking at it, i went to my dads shop and got a whole bunch of piping. then i went to my buddies farm and stared to work on this project. its a 2 seater, around 74 inches in length and 4-5 feet in width. its a 2 seater, and its so far so good to be honest. heres some pics. i plan on updating this thread as the thing comes along until its done. heres some pics with captions:

Theres the first picture. its just showing how the lower frame looks. there is a upper frame that still needs to be assembled and welded to the lower frame. then after that we need to make a roll cage. i dont know if its gonna look like the one in the finnished photo just because we dont have a pipe bender.

this picture is just showing how its gonna look when we put it on wheels. we wanna mount the engine and front and rear wheel aseembly with steering before we get the roll cage and upper frame in just because we are using a much bigger motor for this then what the plans had it in

This pic is just showing off the rear axle. this axle is too short. we need a 42" axle, the one in the picture is only 36 so wheels wont work. we were thinking about making wheel spacers, but the amount that they would need to be extended would create tooo much stress on the bolts and might snap while driving. the axle you see in the picture has a brake already on it, as well as a sprocket. the sprocket might be reused as well as the brake, but we need to get the axle before we figure out what we wanna do. the motor will sit on top of the axle, and the axle will be chain driven.

theres just a pic of the project next to the ATV and 3 wheeler. they are both hondas, the dune buggy was gonna get a honda engine, but we found a better higher HP one.

Heres some of the first builder's pics of his completed buggy:

but heres the picture were its gonna look more like what we want. we want to paint it black with chrome wheels (LMK if you think you have a better suggestion, (no red rims lol)).

the only thing is, the rollcage might be a bit different, and the engine will be powered by a 50HP kawasaki inline 2 (lol) engine with that continous gear. i wanted to get something like 5spd, but we got this motor from my friend (the guy thats helping me build) for free so i figured why not just save money. anyway, all else we need to do is:
Front axle
Front wheels
sterring column
rack and pinion
rear axle
mount engine
mount axle
steel plate for a floor
mount and connect gas a break pedals.
get headlights

for the headlights i think im gonna use some crappy ricer fogs or maybe get wire something up with the spare H4 and 9006 bulbs i have.

Well, tahts all for now, sorry if its kinda lengthy, but im really excited about this. with the 50HP motor and a single driver, i wouldnt be suprised if it would be faster than some cars and even do some wheelies.

ANY help or suggestions feel free to comment.
Thanks
Rob

Hmmm...square tubing huh?

I would have gotten round tube and a J2 hand bender for the stregth factor.

the square piping was suggested on the plans. the pipes we are using is 1/4 inch thick structural tubing. the roll cage will be built out of round piping, again as the plans suggested

That sht looks awesome. I wish I could part of a build like that... Have you thought about what it might look like in sand colors? (just a thought, maybe a bad one)

But yeah, make sure you show that engine soon.

Ah nevermind. Now I know what's going on. That's a good frigin idea.... using the snowmobile engine. Actually I guess you could salvage a bunch of stuff off of it.

Good times...
