Default svchost.exe...

I am trying to clean up a new computer here from Dell.. so far I have gotten rid of like 20 programs that we dont need.

I am going through the processes now and I noticed I have like 6 instances of svchost.exe running. I know what it is... but why so many instances?

Well its a brand new out of the box computer from Dell. We got it at a good deal but its running a little too slow.

Its a P4 2.8Ghz... but its only running 512MB RAM. I am definatly going to upgrade. The motherboard only has two slots for ram and they are both ful ( 2 x 256chips). I am going to buy two 512's to pop it up to 1GB... so that should speed it up quick.

Anything else I should do? Its just too slow right now. I didnt want to get it out of the box with the upgraded RAM cause that would cost alot more then throwing it in myself.

512 should be fine

download the program i linked on the 1st page. Computers out of the box are loaded up with garbage set to start on startup.

or just reformat.
