The US is not a welfare state. There are some absurd instances of corporate welfare (farm subsidies come to mind), but by and large the government isn't paying for crappy businesses. I had my own company, and there was no government grant for me to stay in business. In fact, I was paying taxes that I had never heard of before.
For the record, I threw out my copy of the communist manifesto when I realized what a twat Karl Marx was.
But really, I have to ask -- what does any of this have to do with removing the word 'god' from the pledge of allegiance? I'm more than happy to engage in debate, but I don't see the connection here.

How does an aethiest swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you "WHO"? Where would they put the hand that's supposed to go on the bible? Since their beliefs don't support God or the Bible, does this mean that they would lie?
Take the pledge back to it's original form, the way the author wrote it. We won over the "Godless Communists" and most went back to their suppressed religions.
