Check out Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It was one of the more intelligent and interesting shows I've watched to date.

is that a series now? i saw the movie several years ago, and i really liked it. in fact, i like a lot of masamune shiro's stuff. katsuhiro otomo is another with great work (think Akira). but alas, this is in the far minority nowadays.

i will keep an eye out for stand alone complex. thanks.

Yeah... they made a series that goes more in line with the original comic. So now it has the full cast (basically, half the characters were cut from the movie), and it thematically fits the original idea better. Also, the animation in the TV show, I feel, is much more true to how I envision the story than the movie's...

Adult swim's anime is still middle school/high school stuff in Japan. (Lupin as a possible exception, but that show is ANCIENT.) The Yu-gi-oh/dragonball/pokemon stuff is for way younger than that.

I dread the upcoming premiere of Neon Genesis Evangelion on AS. The dub sucks, IMO. Oh well, props for showing old anime that was cool in 1996 I suppose.
