I just rode my new R6 Raven

I just bought my buddy's 05 R6 Raven and took it for a spin. My first time riding for real. It was... hrmmm... Sexual, to say the least. It was scary and thrilling at the same time. 50 mph feels like 100 mph. Wow is all I can say. Teh edn :)

LT 09-12-2005 05:05 PM

No license or insurance yet, we just rode on these undeveloped backroads for like 30 min. Learned the basics and stuff. I don't move back to NY till December :) Don't sweat it though, I am going to the DMV first thing tomorrow to take the test and get it registered in my name.

94civicEX 09-13-2005 02:52 PM

Why do you call it a "Raven"?

hakjai 09-13-2005 03:37 PM

Pic kind of dark, do you have frame sliders on her? Congrats on the new bike, ride safe.

CRAIGHIMSELF 09-13-2005 03:40 PM

Pete, do you plan on taking that bike to take the test on? It better be registered and insured under someones name otherwise theyll send you packing if its not. Good luck dude. If youre still in SD in about a month, we'll go ride ;)

I was figuring he'd taken the MSF course....at least I hope he has, rather than taking the riding test. The written test is easy though.

msf is definately a good idea, you can probably get into a class pretty easily now that its towards the end of the season.

I'm calling squid until I see your gear.

dom93hatch 09-13-2005 06:41 PM

Damn that's sex. Don't squid around like other Marines.

Can't wait till I get out of debt to get a bike...

I know that.

I'm just hoping that he didn't get sold on thinking it was some superior model.

Most of the riders I saw in SD were squids...I also like to call them organ donors. Shorts, tank top, flip flops...the norm.

4 friends and my friend's dad being a cripple later....gear is pretty important i'd say!

dom93hatch 09-13-2005 06:51 PM

Oh and take the MSF course

sherwood 09-13-2005 07:31 PM

nice bike and good luck man

oh and remember the basics:
helmet, leather gloves (preferably having double leather on the heel of thumb), heavy pants, a leather jacket, and boots

and remember the golden rule, when you think you've learned enough to move on.... you havent.

Pete 09-13-2005 08:15 PM

No, I don't plan on riding it back to NY in 2 months. I didn't buy it from a dealer, I bought it from a really good friend of mine that I work with. I know he babies it because it is in his living room everytime I come over. Yes, there are frame sliders on it, as well as a rear bracket/tail light conversion and a front blinker conversion. If you must know, I bought it for $8,500 with 280 miles on it. I am scdeduled to take the MSF at the end of the month, right now I am only driving on a permit during the day and off the highways. I am still looking for a decent jacket, but as of now I have a set of boots, a good set of gloves and obviously a helmet. I'll take a pic of all the gear in a lil bit. No, I don't plan on using this bike at the course, I plan on using the bikes provided. I am insured and the bike is registered :p

bluetwo 09-13-2005 08:22 PM

An MSF should help with teh insurance too I think.

I take it you plan to baby it some too. It wouldn't hurt to keep it out of the NY winter. Make sure you're confident about the fit of your jacket before you buy it, and when you try it on put yourself in a riding position so you can be sure that it's not gonna wrinkle up the wrong way and/or be too short on you.
Just my $.02 because I know how much I value a good fitting jacket. :D

Yeah, we went by cycle world today and I tried a few of them on. I plan on keeping it garaged in the winter time.

CPL 09-13-2005 10:21 PM

If only you were up here in Nor Cal I'd hook up a fellow Devildog with some gear. ;) :)

Ride Safe!!

ADRteg 09-14-2005 04:47 AM
