The guy was completely unqualified for his job. His appointment was a perfect example of the unrestrained, unashamed cronyism of the Bush administration. Good riddance, Michael Brown, and good luck to the next guy.

It's good to see that the new guy has practical knowledge and "hands-on" experience with disaster relief.

In short, a political favor was given to a guy who potentially had the safety of millions of people in his hands. This, in a post 9/11 country when there looms the threat of a dirty bomb or chemical terrorism, which would necessitate FEMA stepping up and performing in top form.
