A lot of people can't, black cars are some of the hardest cars to make look flawless.

I do professional detailing for a Ford dealership and i know how black sucks. It seems like i always get the black trucks that are in rough shape.

We use AutoMagic products.

My way of getting into that would be

Wash
Clay entire truck to remove impurities
fine cut cleaner with a semi coarse wool pad
finish foam pad with a mild abrasive polish
hand wax or machine wax

once i get the chance to do my accords i will post pics. gotta have some paint work done before i can detail

just curious

why would you use a wool pad on that truck instead of a foam pad? why would you use a finishing pad to polish instead of a polishing pad? why would you use a more aggressive polish than cleaner?

I polish with finishing pads all the time. But these are light polishes I'm talking about.... Great comparison shots. I know exactly what you mean. To some looking at the pictures it may just look like "oh you made it shiner." I remember when I first did my mom's black Stratus with my polisher and it was more "OH I'm taking out years of light scratches." Impressive stuff.

wool has the tendancy to get scratches out easier. but it also depends on the overall condition of the truck. sometimes i all i use is finishing pads but black tends to be a whore and not want to come back to life. i gotta redo my accord being 9 years old and dark green dont make it that great.
