Random Question...
Why do some people get vanity tags to say things like the following:
'88B88B'
'66G66G'
'00OO0O'
'SS5SS5'
Those are just some examples. Sure its hard to read the tag, or even know which is a number and which is a letter. But why do people do it?
Even if you go screaming by a car @ 150mph and someone calls it in or you even go by a cop, do they even need your plate # to pull you over?
Can someone explain this to me.

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.
However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

Why the sky is blue and why idiots choose stupid vanity plates are two different things

And the opposite effect is found on Mars. That is why the sky there is red. They also have blue sunsets, while we have redish ones. It is all due to the types of gases in the atmosphere.
One reason why someone could get those plates is the fact that is would be hard for someone to remember the exact numbers and letters. So there might be some confusion while reporting that plate number. But those plates are so unique, I dont think it would even matter...
Kinda like, "um yes, the plates had a bunch of 1s and Is."
Kinda like, "um yes, the plates had a bunch of 1s and Is."
I also think they get those plates because if they get a ticket, and officer can easily make a mistake in writting down the correct plate #. so when they go to fight it in court they can have the ticket thrown out because the info on the ticket is incorrect. its a pretty crafty thing to do, but I'm sure it works.
I personaly enjoy those plates, that definately say something, but unles your the one that orderd them you have no clue what it says. I'm constantly finding myself at a stop light wonder'n what fu*k the guy's plate infront of me is try'n to say .. If you get a personalized plate(i understand its "personal" & all),you got that plate to say something & for other people to see it & get some kind of impression/idea from it , right ...So why get something only you can translate?? WTF people if ya drop the extra cash to entertain yourself & others w/ a personal plate, it shouldn't require a Little Orphan Annie decoder ring to figuer it out!! That defies the whole point..
