Long story short-

my mom's purse was stolen and someone used her debit card at a local gas station for $24.xx gas + $60.00 cash back. Do gas stations usually have cameras set up to show the outside pump area? For license plate info off the car using the card? The cards have all been cancelled.. + we have the phone number of the persons who took the purse (they called and wanted to "verify" her SSN) supposedly from Wells Fargo) however, they called with a number that showed up on caller ID as "wireless caller xxx-xxx-xxxx. All this info has been given to police.. with an investigator working on the case.

Depends on the gas station. I think most have cameras inside the store that look into the gassing area, but some may have extra cameras outside.

 

I'm pretty sure they have cameras on every pump here in Michigan. They have the "drive off without paying, we'll take your license" law.

 

well the gas station is Chevron, practically new. Hopefully the police can get something from this..

 

yea.. CA is mostly pay before you can pump. so i dunno

You don't need a pin when u run it through as credit.

 

all of the major gas stations here in Ohio have a camera pointed at each pump area to catch licence plates.

 

You cannot get cash back when you run it through as credit.

 

actually.. it may not have been cash back. It could have been a $60.00 gas transaction = 2 cars.
