Default Rear exhaust temps?

My exhaust broke off past the cat the other day, and I have to get it inspected tomarrow, because I bought it from out of state. I went to Walmart, the home of all ghetto repairs, to get some exhaust tape to patch it up for an hour tomarrow so I can pass, but found none, so I settled for aluminum HVAC duct tape, rated to 176 degrees F. How hot does the rear section get? Im hoping this will hold up for the 15 minute drive there, and the inspection. I'll take it off in the parkinglot afterwards.

You should be fine. Exhaust gas temperatures quickly lower right after the header collector.

Well. It worked just as I had hoped it would, flawlessly, and perfectly, untill I got 4 houses away from my house. :lmao:

Turns out you only have to go through inspection if you are getting a new title on a salvaged vehicle. w00t.

I tried that stuff once. Mine lasted....probably half way till i got to work. Then just said f*** it and welded one on. And spot weld most of the silencer closed so the damn thing would be quiet.

One of these days i'll be able to afford to fix stuff again. Including that.

My parents offered to fix my exhaust for free, because it annoys them when I come home at night. I just think its pointless to have them waste money on something that is going to be replaced in a few weeks for aftermarket.
