Default hypothetical decision making time...

here is my situation....

im thinking of replacing the Ram with something a bit more economical without losing ALL of the utility of owning a truck.

i owe a bit more than i can probably get on a trade (according to NADA, KBB etc) probably by about 1000 bucks.

so i have 2 trains of thought...

sell the Integra, pay more toward the Ram and buy a WRX wagon, still have AWD (snow) and something fun to drive in the summer months, better MPG and some cargo space

or

keep the Integra, take a hit and trade the Ram toward an Element, the difference in MPG will pay for that loss i take on trade plus i have a capable winter vehicle and a lot less cargo space loss.

towing capacity isnt much of a factor at all, i dont tow anything and on the freak chance i come into some money, the most id get to haul is a pair of jetskis.

How about a smaller truck? If you like the cargo space of a truck, you will never be happy with that aspect of the WRX wagon. It just isn't that big.

ive looked into smaller trucks and in the V6 segment (no f'in way i get a 4cyl truck) with 4x4 the gains in mpg are so minimal, it wouldnt be worth the trouble of changing it up. plus if i get an element or WRX i get some passenger space, which i wouldnt mind having.

The Element is not much of gas miser. It's heavy, has the aerodynamic drag of a barn and it's powered by a 2.4L four.

This is going to sound crazy.. but I'd sell the Teg and the RAM to buy one vehicle that can do both the corner carving and load hauling.. like the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT [wagon]
More interior space than the WRX.. detuned EJ25 for a more flexible powerband.

Or if you want the WRX, I'd hop on the GM employee discount and buy a Saab 9-2x Aero. Probably get out the door for about $18K.
