Comcast high speed internet is unreliable
I'm in the SF bay area and comcast high speed internet has been dropping for the past several months. When surfing the net, suddenly the requests will be denied, then a minute later it's back up. Don't even think about playing games online. Anybody else experiencing this?
And is DSL any more reliable?
I don't care about speed. Once I hit the 150k-200k mark, I'm happy. But I need constant connectivity.

DSL in my area is pretty much garbage. I can't hit cable speeds.
Comcast crashed 4 times in a matter of 2 weeks earlier this year. Something to do with the DNS.

I just used a different DNS address and it's been working fine for the last 6 months or so.

If it is dropping out, are you monitoring your cable modem to see if it loses signal? It may not be the Provider with the issue, but an issue with the cable from the tap to your modem. Too much or too little signal can cause it to drop in and out. I would call in to their tech support and have them check your Transmit Level.

I have Comcast and I only experience issues when I'm using my wireless LAN. There's something wrong with my equipment because I'm good to go when I plug in.
I had an unpleasant experience when they turned off my connection a month after I had it installed. Turned out that the installer guy never filed the paperwork so they didn't have me on record as a customer. It took me a couple of days to sort it out because they didn't want to re-instate my 6-month discount. The bonus: since I wasn't technically a customer for the first month, I didn't have to pay for it. Their customer service people are really terrible, though.
