On Xp does your disk cleanup hang when you're trying to free space?

 

disk cleanup scares me :nervous:

 

Why?

 

Mine works fine...when I remember to use it h:

 

Yeah, sometimes it takes like 10+ minutes... On my dads old computer, I left it on for 2 straight days and it stillwas hanging.

If you have a newer computer shouldn't take more that a few minutes if you got a lot. And if you dont have that much it should be under 30 seconds

 

Mine hangs but it happens even on a fresh hard drive...i get those issues all the time at work

Dudes, if Disk Cleanup takes more than a few minutes, it's because you have lots and lots of junk in your Temporary Internet Files folder. You can either go to Internet Explorer options and say Delete Files, or you can manually go through Windows Explorer to the Temp Internet Files folder (which is hidden in Documents and Settings) and delete the rubbish from there....

Disk Cleanup is good every couple of weeks... Gets rid of unwanted cookies and shit.

Even better is Disk Defragmenter. I advise everyone to use this atleast once in 10 days... Really makes your computer run faster.

 

That's not true. It's a registry error causing it to hang. I had 1.5gb worth of temporary files that after I made the fix, it brought up in seconds.

The delete Temporary Internet Files works for that folder, but there is a Temp folder that the Disk Cleanup clears.
