long story, in short....

a close friend of mine from growin up/high school got into drugs and we sorta grew apart but still maintained contact etc...

i moved away in '98 and since then, ive seen him 2 or 3 times and spoken to him no more than 5 times (other than seeing him) not for any reason really except he lived in IL/WI and i lived in NY... but, anytime ive gone back to visit, ive always made a point to go visit his parents cuz i was close with them, too.

so we get a wedding invitation for him and after some mental debating, i decided to go down. if for no other reason than to see his parents.

but it seems stupid to drive down there 7 hours tomorrow to hang out at the reception, pay for a hotel room over nite and drive 7 hours home

I got a wedding invitation like that a few weeks ago...I'm not going. I wasn't even close with this girl.

You're close with him though...at least you were at one point so it's not really a waste....maybe he's changed a bit?

 

I hear ya James. Hopefully it won't be so bad though. Last weekend I wasn't looking forward to that wedding yet I had a good time :rick:
