BTW, Hugh Jackman was in negotiations on a 3-picture deal to star as Bond, but he turned it down, saying he didn't want to be in yet another franchise after X-Men and Van Helsing

Supposedly it's been narrowed down to 4 people:

Goran Visnjic - 6'4", Croatian, age 33 - that guy from ER
Henry Cavill - 6'1", English, age 22 - stage actor, relatively unknown, small film roles
Alex O'Lachlan - Australian, age 28 - coupla indie films
Ewan Stewart - 5'9", Scottish, age 47 - was the 1st officer on the movie Titanic

Clive Owen has said many times over that he won't take the part. He likes to think of himself as some kinda serious actor who takes on new and different roles each time and to get caught up in a franchise would be too damaging to his career. Or so he says.

Goran Visnjic is the right age and build to be credible, but his nationality wouldn't be right for Bond.

Henry Cavill is too young to make a credible Bond. The role needs more maturity than a 22 year old can offer. Wouldn't have enough schooling yet to pass as a super agent with the skills and abilities of Bond.

Alex O'Lachlan right age and being a subject of the crown....needs to refine the Austrailian accent.

Ewan Stewart is already too old...they hired Brosnan at 42 and he's already too old at 52, so a 47 year old actor doesn't get them anywhere. It would be another deal like Lazenby.

FWIW these are my opinions on these people.

I personally would like Jason Statham just fine except for one thing: James Bond has hair and Statham has an established movie persona as being bald.

Sean Connery started losing his hair in his early 20s and wore a hairpiece for all of his Bond movies, but he hadn't really established much of a presence without hair before playing Bond.

I have this feeling that looking at Jason Statham in a wig would seem rather stupid.

Paul Rubens should be the next Bond without a doubt.
