That's exactly how they got me. I completely skipped the Beast Wars, Robots in Disguise, and Armada lines. Then I started to collect Alternators. I went to the store with cash in hand wanting a toy ... didn't see anything new, but damn ... that Energon figure looks cool as hell.

True story. I started with just G1 stuff, and skipped energon. Then I thought some are kind of cool, so ended up paying the premium on MISB/MOSC stuff. Now I'm getting into Binaltech/Alternators stuff, and buying some Cybertron items just in case I think I will like them later.
Just stay away from diaclone and 1st issue G1s and you should be ok, but I'm really not one to talk. Hell I even collect macross and soul of chogokin stuff, and that get's real expensive real quick.

Next thing I know, it was combiner time. Then sales were happening ... next thing I knew, my shelves were full.
All it takes is that gateway bot ... something to unlock the floodgates ... then you're fucked. :happysad:
