Default I can't play FPS anymore.

I guess I'm past that stage of needing to feel cool and awesome in front of strangers I'll never see again or whatever, but I dunno, the fun of playing isn't worth dealing with the other players anymore.

Discuss.

Some people take FPS games way too seriously. The meaning of videogames as recreation is gone and has become a "sport" to fanboys.

I can hang at Halo 2, but I'd rather not because people are :ghey: about it.

seems you're referring to multiplayer specifically, so that said, i never played to feel "cool and awesome", i played for the fun. it was especially fun when real-life friends joined in on the action.

but i eventually stopped playing FPSs for the most part because the market flooded with them, and most of them just plain sucked. they never had the good gameplay that i experienced back in the day with games like quake 1, tribes, and a little later, unreal tournament.

even though i picked up counter-strike, i could never play for very long because of the amount of idiots flooding its servers.

since then, the two FPSs that held my attention for more than usual was Call of Duty (still great, but i never play), and now Battlefield 2 (although plenty surrounding the game sucks).

so yeah, i can still play.

I don't know why I played them before, but it's certainly... lacking... now.

i hate to promote a game that is so rough around the edges, but have you tried battlefield 2? they really did a great job with the teamplay aspect (when idiots actually squad up and work as a team), and the rendering engine is really quite nice, compared to what else is out there.

Can't play it. Refuses to install on my system due to the age of my video card, and I absolutely will not buy a new vid card when my card is performing fine. It's just an attempt by NVIDIA to push their new cards when their older cards are still performing just fine on today's games.

The funnest Multiplayer FPS i've ever played was Team Fortress Classic.
It was a counterstrike mod, I think.
