Thanks, comes from being an assistant Scoutmaster, we would do canoe trips and lots of splashing and water fights were par for the course. I also used to do a lot of solo canoeing, had to be ready for a roll-over and you need to keep stuff dry and floatable. I would have suggested fishing and catching your lunch but you said to keep it simple.
