Trade my baby for a 3000GT SL?
I have been tweaking and tweaking my 6th gen Accord coupe but the other night the wife went to trade in our NEW GMC Envoy (has everything but the V8 and resale value) for an Infinity FX4 or whatever (I cracked up when my wife compared the ride of the Infinity to my RSX with the H&R springs!). I came in to seal the deal and saw a Mist 3000GT SL. 1998, 5sp, 215hp stock v6, front wheel drive. About 68k miles.
The GT is in very nice shape, all stock. The diff between my car and that is the five speed and slightly more kick, not much (remember I have an automatic). And I know what I have done to my car.
They want about 14,999 but I am not going to pay that even though it books out for about that much. If they go to 13k and thrown in some decent tires I might go for it....any comments??? I have a few days and my girl has really been good to me...I don't mean my wife!
Any comments.....

Ugh what a horrendous car. Slow, heavy and unreliable. And that's way overpriced. I've seen VR-4s for less money.
This belongs in the basement BTW, this forum is for Accord and TSX related talk

I like the VR4... but even it is heavy IMO. Not that they aren't quick. They'll kill Mustang GTs ans stuff, but I don't know. I say if you want fast and reliable get something else, but if you really love the 3000 then go for it.
VR-4's are extremely problematic. There's a synchro that breaks in the transmission commonly. Instead of fixing the problem, you have to replace the entire box.

Not only is the accord much more reliable, but 1000 times safer than the 3000GT. I wouldn't want to impact an SUV in one of those things! All you would gain is the sportier looks, not much else. Eventually you would hate it. An NSX on the other hand...
