concentrated wash, clay, wash again, polish, then wax.
it removes contaminants and dust particles on your pain (the ones that rough up your pain) without harming it.
Me, I'd just do concentrated wash, 2000 grits wetsand, compound, polish, then wax.

before anything else, after wash.
if the paint is extremely contaminated.. you can use a paint cleaner prior to clay.... rather than waste a good piece of clay on crap.
