Default I finally got a 35mm

Long story short i'm telling my uncle about my search for a 35mm, and he tells me he has one he can sell me... So aftre an hour after debating i came to the price of $100 for everything he had. Which was a Ricoh xr2, two telephoto lenses, a wide angle, and a couple other lenses and filters...

Then he tells me, well i'm just gonna tell your grandmother i couldn't sell it... it was your granddads... (who pasted last december)...

So i kinda feel all warm and cozy inside, but he was like trying to rip me off. WTF. But anyone know anything about this camera?

Pentax manual focus lenses fit on a Ricoh.

As for the camera itself it's mostly manual with an aperture-priority auto exposure mode. Basically you pick the f-stop and it'll set the shutter speed. It does have some other nice features too:

Eyepiece shutter - closes off the viewfinder so stray light coming in thru it doesn't get to the meter and mess up your exposure reading if you're shooting on a tripod and yer face isn't right up against the camera to block out the light.

Depth of field preview - stops down the lens to the aperture you've set so you can see what the depth of field looks like

Multiple exposure lever - pretty self explanatory, lets you take multiple exposures on one frame.

Exposure compensation - lets you adjust the exposure compared to what the light meter reads; useful for bracketing exposures which you'll learn about in class

I'd say overall it's a pretty solid choice. The only thing it doesn't have that could be potentially useful is a way to lock the mirror up. Sometimes if you're taking longer exposures on a tripod, vibrations from the mirror can blur the picture even though the camera itself is totally stationary. It'd be nice to have but it's not totally essential. Usually the shutter speed this problem happens at most frequently is around the 1/15 second range but it varies by camera. If you're using a tripod and the subject ain't moving, try and just go for a longer shutter speed which will be less affected by mirror vibrations. That is unless, you need that 1/15 shutter speed to get a particular aperture. Mostly though, it's avoidable.

Whether or not I'd consider this a good buy depends on what lenses you got. So...what kind of lenses did you get?

Hopefully there's a 50mm in the set. That's what you should start out with before you start messing around with telephotos or wide angles.

Oh, and I'm not sure if you have a manual for the camera, but if not, this should help: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/xr-2s/xr-2s.htm

Haha no not quite.

In the second picture the lens on the left is a 50mm f/2. This is a standard lens with a not particularly fast maximum aperture. It is not a telephoto. The 52mm you see there is marked on the filter attached to the lens. It unscrews and is not a part of the lens itself. 52mm indicates the diameter of the filter threads.

The thing in the middle is a teleconverter, not a lens. It goes between a lens and the camera and multiplies the focal length of a lens. Typically they're either 1.4x or 2x multiplication factor. It also makes the f-stops smaller. You lose one stop with a 1.4x or two stops with a 2x. Not much use for this thing here.

The lens on the right is a wide angle of some sort but I can't see any markings that would indicate its focal length. The maximum aperture is f/2.8. It's probably either a 28mm or a 35mm.

All I can tell about the big thing that's attached to the camera is it's some kind of telephoto zoom (zoom = you can change the focal length) with a macro feature.

If you want to find out what the other lenses are, unscrew the filters and read what is marked on the lens itself, around the front glass. Post that info up here and I'll translate it into english for ya.
