Yeah basically thats the description. What it means though is that I get a list of events we want to cover and I pick the ones I want to cover. If I can't make it to one or don't want to go I arrange another shooter to go and cover it or if I need more than one at an event. Then I accept the submissions from the shooter as a first round edit and pass them along to the photo editor for his selections.

Just curious...how much does someone make shooting an event?

 

Well it can depend on how you move your images, who buys them, how large a print, Magazine, ad, or web publish etc.

An example of the last event I went to at Goldendale is that I have sold two CDs containing 25 images to two seperate purchasers for mixed useage and a third for private ownership. The deal hasn't been finalized but I stand to make well more than I spent to get to the event and also covers all incidentals with plenty left over to throw a raging party at the bar.
