gun folks: help/opinion
well, my adventure to becoming a cop is nearing. after several written and physical exams and a nice 40 minute grueling interview, i have been accepted to the police academy in spite of my driving record. now i have to provide my own sidearm. i'm leaning towards the Glock 17. any pros and cons with this? any suggestions with any other gun? must be either 9mm or 40 caliber.

I don't care for Glocks (or any 9mm), I generally shoot best with heavier .45s. If you can try out various models before you buy, that would be the best way to go.

as for the caliber, if i stay with 9mm or 40cal, the academy provides free ammo. plus, i'd rather get a gun i know i could pass with, then move up in size later, even though many departments are going with .40 cal as department issue.
*EDIT*
b16aEGcivic...i got a buddy who's partin out his 2.5rs and doing an STI RA RHD swap, so if you need any parts lemme know i'll see what he has.
