"It has a thirty five hundred engine in it. It does like 150 man!"
I stopped at the gas station today and went inside to get a pack of smokes. The cashier guy said to me,
"Hey that's a neat little car there. What is it?"
"A Miata."
"What year?"
"99."
"I like the color on it. It looks a lot like the color on my car."
"What do you drive?"
He looked over in the general direction of a dark blue mid-90s Firebird with Support the Troops ribbon magnets all over it, and a red non-turbo second-gen Eclipse with altezzas. I said,
"Oh, so the Firebird."
"Yeah it's like a rocket. It has a thirty five hundred engine in it!"
I knew what he was talking about, he ment to say the 3800 which is GM's standard V6 for that size car. I asked him,
"So is it a V8?"
He said,
"I don't know. I think it might be a V6 actually. It's still really fast though, it can hit 150!"
Since I just wanted to be nice, I nodded and said,
"I guess that's still plenty fast then."
Ignorance truly is bliss.
