Default anyone kno bout pdf's

so i got a pdf i needed to edit..

so i used illustrator cs2 to edit the individual pages

used acrobat pro7 to delete some of the pages

then i saved it

and the file save is like 3megs.. when the original was 500k

question is.. how do i get it to 500k, or at least under a meg. i've tried to reduce file size w/acrobat.. didnt do much than to shrink it to 2.5meg. tried some stupid pdf compressor prog to no avail

looks like illustrator saved the edited pages as images, while the original was text.

are there any settings in illustrator for saving PDF documents? you may have to poke around a bit, but i vaguely remember there being some. there should be compression available for PDFs. but it's been a long time since i edited any PDF documents...
