Now why would you pop it into second and take off? All he'd do then is pursue you, initiate a stop and then cite you for whatever speed you were doing.

There are evasion laws which do exist that do not require you to have a red lamp facing you, or a cop with a light bar initiated for you to meet the requirements of the crime; They're just very hard to prove.

But why would you have taken off anyway, I mean, he was just behind you... for all you know he was just driving, and even if he wasn't, what's the problem with him following you if you weren't breaking the law?

I guess I don't see the logic behind "Hey, there's a cop following me and I'm doing nothing wrong, so I'm going to dump it into second and floor it; Yeah, that'll show him."
