Not at all....the bug is a lot more fun to drive than just about any other car made.

I have been thinking about picking one up as a summer beater for a while now.

i think it's weird because there's power nothing, crappy radio, and it's loud. but it's way more fun than the 3. if i can get it to start all the time, i may just drive it every day.

Thats what makes it fun though
The noise, the lack of power steering and feeling the road through the steering wheel, who needs a radio anyways?

Besides as you already know it's an adventure to take it anywhere because you never know when its gonna require the toolbox

It is easy to push start something that weighs under a ton. I love my bug, been driving it since 1979. It has no power, but I still like the way it handles better than the teg. So direct, and it is basically the same layout as a 911. Macpherson struts and IRS with rear engine and RWD. The bug has broken down once in the time I have had it, and it is simple to fix, with the primitive fuel injection. Carry a spare accelerator cable, trust me.

Check this if it is a super, try superbeetles.com if it is not

SBO!

it's not a super beetle. and it doesn't have fuel injection. it has dual carbs.

i definitely keep a spare accelerator cable, clutch cable, and v-belt.
