Default Routers

My house hold needs a new wireless internet Setup. This includes 1 Router and 2 Wireless adapters 9 (1 computer is hardwired to router) so its 3 computers total.

We need a good router becuase or floors are about 2 feet thick and stuffed with sound deadening material. We live in a Condominium so we need good security, something that we can also add an external harddrive to the router so we can share files and put movies and other large files on.

So far i looked at the... (routers)

-LINKSYS WRT54GX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16833124170

-D-Link DGL-4300
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16833127158

-GIGABYTE GN-B49G-WPEAG
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16839121011

I also need to know any good adapters that will work good with the following routers. :/ sorry guys i dont know anything

I looked at this network card...

-NETGEAR WG311T
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122134

If there are any other routers/network card I should look at please tell me about them. The internet is constantly shutting off and it pisses my mom and brother off. Also im not really good at this networking stuff. Im pretty sure this combo will work (both are 802.11G and up to 108mbps) but wut else factors into compatibility?

Thank you

I personally trust Netgear for the adapters and D-Link for the router. But other people have differing opinions on the matter.

i have a wired and wireless linksys router and no problems
i suggest a 802.11b which can be had for $5AR these days and antennas for better signal
as for cards, netgear and dlink are cheaper than linksys and work fine

Go with Linksys, I promise. I've had more problems with our Netgear wireless router than I've had with our Linksys routers.

DO NOT go by brand. Everyone loves a brand and everyone hates a brand. Go by model. The linksys 3g52g3g model might be the worst thing ever made yet at the same time the linksys 3g52g3g.2 might be the best thing ever made. This is a case where picking by brand is not an option.

Get something that has replaceable antenna's. UPGRADE THE ANTENNA'S! Don't even bother looking for one that has good stuff stock, cause they all suck when compared to a few bucks spent on a good aftermarket antenna.

I have a Belkin 54g router (F5D7230-4) and it works great with my IBM's built-in card. Never had any connection issues.
