epsons dont like aftermarket cartidges at all. youre printer nozzles may be contaminated.

id suggest buying a canon ip3000. it's cheap, it prints high quality prints, and it loves cheap ink

some generic inks have contaminated ink in them. you may want to take a look at the cartride and see if the spongy stuff inside is off-color

epson should have software that came with it so that you can run the head cleaning option.

run head cleaning.

run head alignment.

check those two things and make sure they are ok.

so the alignment comes out straight and good and the heads have no distortions on them on the test pages?

the generic ink may come from a reputable site, but reputable sites still arent good enough for epson. trust me, I have 2 lexmarks, 3 epsons, and 5 canons sitting in my study room right next to me, and the canons are the only ones that like generic ink. Lexmark is crap, epsons are decent if you're willing to pay for epson ink.

I only use my epsons for printing to dvd's. otherwise, it's canon.

the only generic ink i use on my epson is the Corel-Jet or Print-Rite brand. Other than that, I dont trust any other generic ink. Corel-Jet was the best and gave me no problems, but they seemed to be not availible at Fry's anymore. Print-Rite is very generic and will probably never use them again since their ink seems watered and very cheap looking.

i used a generic ink once for my epson, and it messed up the heads on my printer. had to get a new printer. i wouldnt get generic ink for epsons. the thing is that the heads are built in to the printer on epsons, whereas, on HPs, the heads are built in to the cartridges.
