Default hdd partition question

if i want to partition a space for just my OS (windows xp home), how much space should i give it?

Do you use a lot of programs?

I have 20gb for mine. Excessive...but hey...my HDD is big enough :dunno:

is it possible to have just the OS by itself in its own partition?

Sure, why not.

Just install and save everything else on another partition. :dunno:

Make sure you give it enought space, b/c when you are installing programs, they put dlls in system directory and make registry entries. I'd say at least 10 gigs for winxp, more if you want to keep the swap file on the same partition.
