They say they just want to make you aware of the situation, if you want to donate, that would be fine. I guess those were all free concerts then, if they are not after cash, right?

The only way that Africa will rise from being an impoverished continent will be if they quit having more babies than they can afford to feed. Until that happens, all these donations will be about like flushing money down they toilet and expecting it to end up making it to Africa because it is a shitty place to live.
