does this mean i cannot buy a catback for my car? will car pass inspection and emisions?

 

In Va the law says if it isnt equivilent to factory equipment it's illegal.......so we got buy for a while saying all our stuff was, then they changed it to say that if it's louder than stock it's illegal....so now we're all screwed. I "get"my inspections and emissions so i dont worry, but you should be ok there. I have gotten 7 tickets for my exaust, beaten 4 in court.

 

lol yea, i went to pepboys today and asked if itl pass and he said as long as it got muffler catlytic conv and O2 sensors work, itl pass emissions... i ordered it this morning at 9 and it will be here tomorrow between 11 and 1 so thats all good... from the looks of it that is still pending bill and does not look like it has been passed. looks like its the second time they have brought this up too...

i drive an integra and not to boast, but somehow i have one of the loudest exhausts on the road. I have an AEM intake with just an obx muffler with some custom pipe ran back to the cat. I havent gotten pulled over and neither have any of my friends so you shoudl be ok.

 

Loud exhausts aren't anything to boast about.

Usually when someone gets a ticket for loud exhaust around my part of VA, it's because they're car has painted-black steelies, an aluminum spoiler, color matched mirrors, racing stripes, side skirts and brake calipers that DON'T match the OEM color of the rest of the car. IMO, those cars scream "pull me over and harass me".

Cops don't seem to give a #$%! around here. Most exhausts aren't all that loud when driven like an adult. If I wound my car to 8000RPMs in every gear, then I'd expect to get tickets for lots of stuff.

 

we have that law in hawaii, yet tons of cars have fart-can-itis. im one of the only people with a civic without a fart can!
