Default Fish tank too heavy?

Hey peeps

I have a 40 gallon fresh water tank that is currently downstairs. I'd like to move it upstairs.. but will it be too heavy once filled with water?

How do i know?

thanks

Gallon of water is 8.3 pounds. That is about 332 pounds of water in a 40 gallon tank.

Is it a long or tall tank. Maybe if the weight was over a few beams, it can be supported. :dunno: But I dunno...I dont even know why I posted in here :uhhok:

I'd just drain it so that it's ~20% full, so you don't have to fuss with taking the fish out the tank, but it's still light enough to carry up the stairs.

Are you concerned about your ceiling beams holding up the tank over the long run, or carrying a 40gallon tank filled with water up a flight of stairs?

fish tank + water+ gravel = heavy. Im concerned about the ceiling/floor beneath in the long run.

I would just put the fish in a small container, drain the tank, then lug it up. It'd be a lot safer... Ie: you're carrying it up and accidently crack it, the fish would be safe

Unless your upstairs was ghetto built, I'm sure it will support it.
