Default messed up d15b vtec

i put a jdm d15b vtec engine in my auto 1992 dx hatch. i bought it with out the ecu and used my old one until i got my p08 which was yesterday. i had it installed and wired for vtec, the vtec kicks in like it should but my car is hauling just like it did with the old engine i know its an auto but it should haul alot harder than a stock dx. i am confused, i hooked up a vtec ecu that i am positive works and the same problem vtec engagement but no extra power. i changed the fuel filter today because someone told me that it could be it but its still the same. i dont know what wrong but im getting pissed and if anyone can help i would really appreciate it.

the D15B uses a 3 stage VTEC. I believe you need to use the ECU made for the D15B. There was a member here that made a different ECU work, I can't remember which setup it was though.

Yes it is a 1.5L 130 HP Vtec motor from japan and i am using the correct ecu for this engine. As far as i know its a single stage Vtec motor i wasnt lucky enough to get the 3 stage vtec motor.

reading your original question again, how much "haul" are you expecting. granted that the engine is 130 ps vs. the 106 ps DX, you are still using an automatic transmission and your car does not rev high to get the potential power out of the VTEC.

if you were to drive a DX manual vs. a EX manual, you'll notice the EX manual will slightly pull harder in the higher revs. Not as much as you would expect. Both setups will be similar until you get pass 6500 rpms.

the new engine doesnt pull any harder than my old motor. my old engine wouldnt let me go more than 160 km yeah i know that sucks, the new one does 160 also and i did change the ecu to a p08 so theres got to be something wrong.

P30 is the ECU for the OBD1 B16. The p08 is listed as the ECU for the D15B VTEC. You won't notice a huge difference in power by swapping in another single cam, especially since it's auto.
