Default Transmission help

So yesterday I pull my transmission because I am going to send it out to get rebuilt. I call up the place that I think I am going to get it rebuilt at, gear speed, because I have a JDM box and I think they have all the parts to fix it. They tell me that they can't replace bad gears because it's impossible to get Japanese gears but if the gears are bad they can use "A1" gears, I'm assuming they meant B17A1. So are all the parts the same except the gears to an 92-93 Integra GS-R? If so can I get it rebuilt cheaper locally and just tell them it's a 92 GS-R transmission and just buy the carbon syncros that I want to use from that place? Or are there other things I have to consider or other parts that are different? I am a little stuck on what to do.

Well apparentley nothing is interchangable, and all they can do is sleeves, forks, and syncros, seems a little pricey for a $1200 rebuild without shipping. I'd rather get the parts and have a local shop do it, but if the gears are bad it's not even worth it. I think I'm going to have to find a 92-93 GS-R tranny or convert to hydraulic and get a newer one. Those are super hard to find too and I'd have to put my LSD in it. I don't know what to do now, I don't know if a newer B tranny and hydro conversion is even in my budget, and if it'll accept my LSD that I paid for, and I don't even know if it'll be good because it's used, I don't want the same thing to happen again. This sucks, I don't know what to do, I guess I'm going to have to pull it apart and see what it looks like.

I find it hard to believe that nothing is interchangeable, because it's "JDM". The parts should still be interchangeable. However, a USDM B17 tranny would have shorter gears. Check this out, a list of gear ratios for different trannies.

I was just there.

Do you anywhere good to look for a used B17A1 transmission? The LSD will swap into that if I go that route. I'll also check local junkyards.

B17A1's are hard enough to find, let alone their transmissions.

Convert to a SiR-II hydraulic

G2IC.com. Every once in a while one will pop up in the $6-800 range there.

I promise you that you'll never find one in a junkyard. I've only found one G2 GS-R in a yard and it was damn near completely stripped (the final owner scrapped the shell after salvaging the engine and trans.)

Do all ITR transmissions have factory LSD? What do I need to do to make my cable clutch car accept a hydraulic ITR transmission? The one on ebay was an SiR II and I really don't want to risk buying another junk JDM transmission I can't rebuild. I'm still looking for a 92-93 GS-R transmission. This sucks, I should have a transmission shop inspect mine to see what's wrong with it, if it's only the parts that can be replaced I think I'll have it rebuilt, but if stuff that can't be replaced is bad, it's not repairable. I hate this shit. :madfawk:

the LSD in your Y1 won't fit a Y/S80 (g3 Integra) tranny.

yes, ITR transmissions are LSD-equipped from the factory. i don't know the slightest thing about converting cable to hydraulic.

yeah, I know it won't fit, so I wanted to make sure the ITR has a factory one. Is that factory one as good as my aftermarket Kaaz one? I can get a new ITR transmission for like $1700, which is already pretty much my budget not including hyrdo conversion and other shit I know I'll probably need. Does it even uses the same linkages or mount? I don't think so because I think you have to buy a whole mount kit from Hasport for putting a hydraulic transmission into my car, I don't know if they selling just the conversion pieces seperate for a cable equipped B already in the car with Hasport mounts. Will it bolt up to my block, does it use the same clutch? I was hoping to find a decent or even just a shit GS-R transmission and get it rebuilt because at least that is possible. Anyone know where I can find remanufactured 92- 93 GS-R transmissions if they exist?

you'll need different linkages and mounts. all b-series transmissions will bolt to b-series blocks. don't know about the clutch, it should use the same.

i have a 95 GSR tranny that could use a rebuilding :rick:
