it's not.
This is just a hypothetical question asking which situation you would prefer.

But I'm with you...I would blow a good bit of my riches on my family.

At this point in my life, I'm more concerned with money.

Fortunately, the choice between happiness and wealth is generally not an "either-or" scenario.

Poor & Lonely: I am teh suck when it comes to budgeting my money. I've never truely had a girlfriend that I loved and I hardly see my friends - the story (and destiny) of my life.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I'd like to get the financials handled and out of the way so I can spend the best parts of the day with the people who are most important to me, and start living a life of purpose.

A mentor of mine once told me to envision the lifestyle I want to live, then find a financial/business vehicle that will produce the income to allow me to live that lifestyle. Most people do this backwards: they find a job and start living their lives according to their paycheck.

poor and happy. Honestly, the only kicks I could get with no friends/family whatever would be racing and snowboarding, and thats not enough to make up fo meaningful relationships.

Not realistic, you could easily find an S.O. and friends and ways to be happy with lots of money. It's hard to be happy when you are broke and always worrying about how to accomplish basic things that require money, maybe poor and happy works if you have lots of assets.
