Default question about carbon fiber.....

can you take the clearcoat off a carbon fiber hood and then reclear it? and if so how would i go about doing this?

they dont clearcoat carbon fiber hoods from the factory its the epoxy that they buff to a shine but you can sand it and clearcoat it.

Yes you can.

And even if they dont clearcoat it, you can sand carbon and repolish/clearcoat and it shouldn't hurt the appearence if you do it correctly.

(p.s. alot of manufacturers clearcoat their parts, such as the passwordjdm intake.)

oh ok i didnt know that...whatever it is its starting to leave like white stuff all over the hood and i know its not in the carbon fiber so im just going to wet sand it down and put some clearcoat on it

You don't "take the clearcoat off" of the carbon fiber. You just sand over it with some 500 grit sand paper, or something less gritty than that (I recommend a Red 3M Scotchbrite Scuff Pad) and just sand it all over, and re-clear it.
