Default Computer help - something eating CPU usage.

For the past 2 days something in the background has been running. It's using 100% of my CPU. How do I find out what it is? I tried ctrl, alt, delete and it's the usual stuff that is open.

My whole system is going in slow motion is somewhat FRUSTRATING!

Thanks!

McShield is what's eating up your CPU. That's a part of McAfee.

Uninstall McAfee, reboot, and see if it fixes it.

Whats Hpdott01.exe, tfwsctrl.exe, retrorun.exe, launchpd.exe, EM_EXEC.exe, alot of that stuff doesnt look familiar...it might just be something on ur computer but they dont look normal to me.

Edit: And to add onto what antarius said....whens the last time u ran a virus scan...what might be happening is something could be attacking ur system...which mcafee in a sense is fighting it but at the same time hoggin all ur resources

That's not what's eating his CPU -- so let's get him to fix his problem first. =]

Start, Run: msconfig

Startup Tab, Uncheck Everything you don't want booting with your machine. (You don't have to have McAfee booting with your machine to still provide protection. Also you don't need ANYTHING in there to boot with your machine, you can always load them as needed.)

Reboot.
