ok...that's what I meant. It's like an obscenely high rate.

*Edit: and most companies did deny us.

Yes they can. My roommate and I tried to get renter's insurance on our house. The fuckhead kid that used to live next door had broken into the house before and taken a few things with previous tenants. There were two claims on the house from previous tenants, and they would no longer insure anyone who lived here.

Ok that makes more sense.

Sorry to hear about not having it though. Hope they get caught and you can get them to pay restitution for the damages.

Yours is different then a business

a business cannot be declined an insurance policy, although the rates may be high. A house and private party on the other hand can be declined.

damn that really sucks. I hope they don't try it again. I would think they would have to be pretty stupid to rob a restaurant considering most places deposit their money each night instead of just leaving it there.

What kind of restaurant is it? Have you guys thought of moving it to a better area?

yeah, I'm worried about them trying it again right now (which would be stupid, since they now know we don't keep any money there)...but we don't have a security system right now. Even worse, I'm worried they might break in and just wait for somebody to get there in the morning and rob them with our own gun.
It's a fast food restaurant... we've thought about moving to a better area, even looked at a few places, but we can't really afford to start up a whole new business, especially in a better part of town, and with how risky the restaurant business is anyway. Plus, we've been there for over 11 years now. It's not really that bad.
