Default Need Excel Experts again.

not necessarily excel but we run windows 2000 and when I set permissions to an excel file so no one can take ownership but has rights to modify as far as add new entries, when they save it they take ownership of the file and hen other people try to modify it it tells them that its read only now. how do I share a file but not give out rights to it, can I only do this with an admin account?

Save the file and locate it.

Right click on the file, properties, check off "read only"

the read only isnt checked off, its more of a permissions deal since we are using a terminal server which is irritating.
