There's more then enough room. It's been done and it fits. I shouldn't preach that it's as easy as a H22 in a eg, but it's about as complicated as a RSX in an eg. It's a matter of re-welding the mounts....and some other stuff

The only 2JZ-powered Solaras I've seen are tube frame drag cars with the engine still mounted north-south, like such:

Toyota doesn't make a transaxle that mates to the 2JZ. You'd have to use some kind of fwd transaxle and make a custom bellhousing, or at least an adapter, to get it to work.
Not to mention that a north-south inline six is a whole lot longer than an east-west V6 is wide.
The only east-west mounted I6 that I know of is Volvo's and they have a special transaxle mounted to the side of it that's super low profile so as to fit next to the engine.

h:engines are produced for different reasons. thats all im going to say at this point.
A 4cyl camry with 100hp/liter would not be the same camry that is is now/meant to be. And i say that for better and for worse. but im hoping this was obvious.. so disregard what i just said had it been..
