I don't see the point.

I have a phone, the person who I would be texting with has a phone, why not just talk on the phone?

I guess if you need to get a hold of someone and you don't have the ability to talk on the phone then maybe it makes sense.

I just don't like the idea of constantly being in contact with anyone and everyone. If someone wants to talk to me, they can call me and leave a voicemail and I'll call them back. Is that so hard?

Well I guess if while on the toilet you need contact with the outside world then I could see the usefulness.

i cant chat on the phone with my gf while im at work or while she's in class. texting works much better and funner. or a simple text of stuff like "what are doing" or "are you busy" is more convenient than a phone call to ask that and then to end up hanging up 30seconds later because one person is busy.
