Peerflix: a Netflix killer? Not even close...
Gotta let someone know. Netflix.com kicks ass. Peerflix.com does not.
Netflix let's you rent an unlimited number DVD's online for a fixed monthly fee which INCLUDES postage paid envelopes and mailers. You make a list online and it keeps sending you the top choices (3 at a time, depending upon your plan).
Peerflix is a DVD trading service designed to work similarly. You post up the DVDs you have and people can request them. They give you free mailers but you put a .37 cent stamp on it. You get credits for your DVD (amount determined by your DVD's popularity) and you can spend those credits to receive DVDs other having posted up and pay $1 per DVD (on receive only) for this service.
Here's why Peerflix sucks:
-not enough users so the selections sucks balls (will get better with more customers) vs Netflix pretty much has everything on DVD
-people are lazy about sending DVDs. It can easily take 3-4 or more WEEKS before you get the DVD you requested. Neflix turn around is 1 day, depending upon where you live.
-some people don't even send the DVD and a month goes by before you can say "it never came" and get credited.
Simple.
But then again, there is no commitment to join, so it can only get better if more people are on Peerflix. It's not working as of now.
