i never checked my cars carfax when i bought it, i was wondering if anything ever happened to it i dont know about so if someone who reads this thread has carfax could you give me a PM?

Are you buying from a dealer or a private party? Most dealers will run the carfax for you.

Also carfax only tells you the title history of the car, NOT stuff like if it's ever been in an accident. Just so's ya know.

yes, but in most cases a car will be taken to a dealer or to a body shop or mechanic which if i remember correctly is shown on a carfax if the damage is over a certain ammount (last carfax i ran reported a car was in an accident and that there was 4k+ damage done to the front end) and has been reported.

many of their sources on that data can be 6 months behind if i read it right...

Correct, if there is a major accident it will sometimes (and very rarely) be reported to carfax even if car isn't totalled. Usually this happens if the car might be totalled and the shop does an estimate to see if it's going to be.

Otherwise pretty much everything carfax tells you is title history and title history only.
