Police Investigate Rock-Throwing Death
Six Motorists Claim Rock Thrown Through Car Windows

SAN DIEGO -- A 23-year-old woman was killed Friday when a rock crashed through a car window and struck her in the head in Linda Vista, San Diego police said.

Someone in a passing vehicle was believed to have thrown the rock through the windshield at Yadira Guzman, who was riding in a car with her husband along Genesee Avenue near Park Mesa, homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney said.

According to 10News, Guzman's husband heard an explosion sound and when he looked over at his wife, he saw blood all over her.

The man sped back to his home in the 6600 block of Kelley Street. Family members called authorities at about 2:10 a.m., Rooney said.

Guzman died about 10 minutes later in front of their apartment.

According to 10News, several motorists have reported other rock-throwing incidents.

They were at:

* Interstate 805 at Miramar
* La Jolla Parkway at Torrey Pines
* Hidden Valley at Torrey Pines
Clairemont Mesa at Genessee

"It appears as though the people were driving on roads ... a vehicle passed in the opposite direction and almost simultaneously with that people noticed that their windows were being shattered and a rock was ending up in the interior of their cars," Rooney said.

The rocks may have been thrown from a mid-1990s Ford Ranger with a camper shell, Rooney said. A description of the assailant was not immediately reported.

that sucks. i didnt think rocks could go through windshields like that. what do people think sometimes. throwing rocks at peoples cars on the highways. i say gas the bastards.

a few years back a woman died when these punk kids were throwing ice chunks over the highway.
