Default website help v.500 (and i'm sure it won't stop there)

Ok so finally this god damn thing is up and in (mostly, hopefully) working order. Its far from done, I have tons more reviews to do, but I got a good chunk out. Now here's where y'all come in. Can you give me suggestings/images/etc to make the site look more "spiffy?" <--not sure what else to call it. I don't want it to be over the top, but it does need some help. Please don't make fun of the site, just some help. Yes, I know its romance and books, but hey, i don't make fun of your pr0n. thanks in advance guys!

here's the site:

oh and a big thanks to all of those guys who helped me get it to this point
