Check out my custom Car PC!
hi all
what i have here is a car computer neatly installed in my teg glove box. I spent so much money (close to 1500. that's a lot for a broke highschool kid) and time and effort to make it work flawlessly.
Sadly i'm leaving country soon and I'm selling everything that i can sell at this point so I decided to share it with everyone before it's gone.

It basically does everything that those expensive headunits with a hard drive and touch screen and all those fancy things. It has a 20G hard drive to store 1000s of mp3, video files, games and pretty much anything else. The harddrive is mounted vertically to prevent damage to the hard drive when driving on a bumpy road. It can do a bunch of other things like GPS navigation, DVD playback, you name it. Cool thing about it is that it's a fully windows-compatible mini computer so you can do anything as long as you have right software/hardware for what you want to do. Power-on and power-off correspond to ignition-on and off so every time you start your car it automatically starts up and shuts itself down when you turn the ignition off. I had mine set up so that every time i start my car it talks to me like james bond's 750IL.
It was a big project for me. I spent almost 8 months saving up, buying all the components, putting everything together, testing it, taking it apart and putting everything back together to make it do what i wanted to do. I finished building it a month ago and now i have to sell it! It was in my car for less than 2 weeks. Please leave comments.
Edit: Now up for sale! check out the link in my signature

Very cool, reminds of my friends setup. He has a 2.0ghz Celeron, 512mb ram and 64mb video in his car pc... he also has a dts processor and his pc is hooked up to his car audio and because of the dts processor, he gets true surround sound when watching dvd's... his pc starts and shutsdown with his car also, and he's gonna mold his 7" touch screen into his dash in the near future... so far it only cost him about 1100$ CDN... and he has an 80gb hard drive in it... pretty cool setup... he's looking for gps software and the required hardware for it so he can use it as a navigation system also...
Cool setup man!
Cool setup man!
thanks for all the comment guys.
Yea I could've spent much less but i was initially planning on using my mom's old laptop and i was buying parts for it until i realized it was just too slow and won't do the job.
Right now i'm hoping to get $1000 for it. click the link in my signature and check it out if you are interested.

Hi folks...
Since this looks like a very impressive setup, I have no problem with this thread being here. Usually, I'd shunt it off to the Parts Classified Forum.
>> That said, please keep all sales negotiations out of the thread. Use private messaging instead. <<
Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
