Default First car

do you think getting a car from the late 80s is a stupid mistake for a first car? still have thoughts of a prelude or similar in the back of my mind, to play around w/ before I get something nicer and newer.

what cars if any are good cars to work on/learn from/drive to school from the late 80s

thanks

AE86 h: Toyota Corolla (1986). It'd be fun.

or you can get a supra. They're fun too. However, save up some $$ and get a newer and reliable car (generally newer) so you'll be worry free.

Not bad IF you can find one that doesn't have a lot of miles and doesn't need a lot.

Honestly if you want to learn how to work on a car your best bet is a second car, since if you can't get to work/school you're basically screwed.

yea, first car i drove is a 88 auto camry.

best beginner's car, small, sits tall, no power, auto, everything is simple. plus, if you put a couople dings or crash it...the car only cost a few hundred.

as long as you know how to 'feel' for the car. ie. know when somethings is about to break, and make sure to keep the fluids up

I'd suggest early 90's Japanese cars.

But 80's aren't a bad choice.

Just be sure to check the history of it.
