Default Need opinions on Toyota 4Runner..

Thinking of getting rid of my dd (96 Jeep Cherokee), and buying this 97 4Runner. My jeep is a 5spd, between that and the uncomfortable seats my 3hr. (stop and go) daily commute is becoming more and more unpleasant.

Everything I read about it on edmunds it sounds like a pretty good SUV. Only thing I don't like is that it has a timing belt, and not a chain like the jeep. Anyone own/had/family member(s) had one?

I currently own a '98 4Runner. I love it! It has 112k on it. Make sure you check to see if the head gasket recall has been done. I would buy another one in a heart beat.

The models with black painted bumpers/front grills indicated 4cyl, non SR5 trims, im pretty sure... not positive. In later years, the 4cyl models were the only ones to have black door handles, although this might not be the case for 97's.
