Default record peeps

how can i tell if a record is a reprint or not? i found a bunch of awesome records at a salvation army and i'm wondering if they're reprints or not, but i can't find info like that on the web anywhere.

i finally got a record player, and a preamp. i love it. i listen to music on it more than my computer now.

I would look closely at the the label and see when the first copywrite date is and if there are other dates newer. Also you could go by the label and check ownership, when the label was bought by someone else and that would tell if it is a reissue, ie. when did Sony purchase Epic Records. If you have an Epic Record Label and Sony isn't on it it most likely is an early edition. I'll check with a friend of mine at his used record store and get some more details.

One more thing if you are going to buy used vinyl by a record cleaning system, mine has a reservoir for solution and vacuum for cleaning and drying. The solution is put on the brushes and as the record is turned without the vacuum it gets into the groove, then several rotation with the vacuum on it will clean out a lot of debris. It will surprise you as to how much manual cleaning misses. I even clean brand new sealed albums because there is a lot of grundge left from the pressing process, ie release agent etc. Enjoy your listening!!
